Four Owls Receive Philly Soccer Six Honors

PHILADELPHIA - Andrew Kempe was named Philly Soccer Six Goalkeeper of the Week, while Nathan Brown earned Rookie of the Week honors. Kemali Green was recognized as the Defensive Player of the Week and Lukas Egarter was named to the Soccer Six Honor Roll after Temple's wins against Mercyhurst and UAB this past week.
Nathan Brown played an important role in both of the Owls' matches this past week against Mercyhurst (Oct. 15) and against UAB (Oct. 19). Brown scored in the 58th minute to give Temple the two goal advantage against Mercyhurst. He also recorded three other shots on goal as this mark set a new season-high. Against UAB, Brown sparked the Temple offense as TU won its second consecutive match.
Andrew Kempe started in goal for Temple's conference match against UAB, making two saves, including an impressive diving stop in the 26th minute, to secure his second consecutive clean sheet and third overall this season. This marked the third time UAB has been held scoreless this season, with Temple joining Memphis and No. 7 North Carolina in accomplishing this feat.
Kemali Green was instrumental in both matches, anchoring the Owls' defense and keeping UAB and Mercyhurst off the scoreboard. Temple's backline made numerous stops throughout, maintaining defensive pressure from start to finish.
Lukas Egarter was key in both of Temple's victories this past week. He assisted on both goals in the 2-0 win over Mercyhurst, with his second assist coming from a long ball that set up Nathan Brown for a two-goal advantage. Egarter continued his impact against UAB, delivering a free kick into the box in the 57th minute, creating space for Xavier Rimpel to score the match-clinching goal.
Temple will close their home schedule against Florida International on Saturday afternoon from Temple Sports Complex. The action is slated to start at 2:00 p.m.
