Women's Tennis Heads To Houston For AAC Individual Championships

HOUSTON - This week, Oct. 24-27, the Temple women's tennis team is set to compete in the AAC Individual Championships hosted by Rice University at George R. Brown Tennis Center.

Temple will have three players in the tournament. Kelly Richter and Thamara Frasser Kawaratani will compete in singles, while Kawaratani pairs with Marianthi Christoforidou for the doubles event.

SCOUTING TEMPLE

Richter, a freshman, had a standout performance at ITA Regionals, coming back from a set down to secure a hard-fought 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Penn's Sarah Wang. She also teamed up with Irmak Ozturk to clinch an 8-5 doubles win against Hofstra's Mohamed and Soyer.
Christoforidou had an impressive performance at the Cissie Leary Invitational, partnering with Kawaratani to secure four notable doubles victories, including a dominant 8-0 win over Drexel's Rigazio/Ricardo. She concluded the 2023-24 season strong by posting an 8-6 dual record and 16-13 overall in singles while achieving an 18-14 overall record and a 10-6 dual record in doubles, ranking second for overall victories with Kawaratani.

UP NEXT
Other members of the team will return to action on Oct. 25 for Drexel Invitational, heading to West Philadelphia for Drexel Invitational. Tournament play will begin Friday and close Sunday.
