Temple Women’s Soccer Shows Grit in 4-0 Defeat to Rice

HOUSTON - The Temple women's soccer team faced a challenging matchup against Rice on Thursday evening, falling 4-0. This marked the second American Athletic Conference (AAC) contest for both teams.

How it Happen

Temple started the first half with an emphasis on defense, managing two shot blocks and three saves in the first ten minutes of play.
Rice found the score column first in the 33rd minute off of a throw-in and a lowball finished by Catarina Albuquerque.
In the second half, Rice's leading scorer, Leah Chancey, added to the tally in the 52nd minute.
Rice extended its lead in the 67th & 77th minute making the final score 4-0.

By the numbers

Tamsin Bynoe started her 12th game matching her career high with 14 saves, nine coming in the first half.
Sophomore Julie Jakobsen started her first game of the season as the right back and contributed 76 minutes for Temple.
Seven Owls registered shots during the match, with Carly Steinberg contributing two attempts, one of which was on target.
