Temple Cross Country Ran in the 50th Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM Pa - Temple men's and women's cross country competed against over 150 teams in the 50th Paul Short Run this morning. The men's team placed 25th out of 44 teams and ran against 374 athletes in the college men's gold section. Despite injuries affecting the women's team, three runners represented the Cherry & White, with freshman Amelia Sabatino leading the pack.

Graham Thomas, the Owls' top performer,missed his personal best by two seconds, clocking in at 24:32.0 and placing 69th in the men's gold field. William Whalen achieved a new personal best, improving his time by over two minutes.

Freshman Amelia Sabatino continued her strong debut season, while sophomore Jillian Wolk also set a personal record, improving by more than 10 seconds in her first 6K of the season.

The Owls return to competition Nov. 2 in the AAC Championship.

"The results weren't what we wanted but the teams ran extremely well. We had to sit one of our top guys out because of some issues and we wanted to play it safe. This was a big field and the men and women moved up extremely well throughout the race. Sadly we had one of our guys and girls drop out of the race because the course had some difficult terrain. I'm proud of their efforts and we are hoping to put the final touches together so we can have a great conference and regional championship."
