Temple Women's Basketball Secures First Road Victory at Delaware

11.12.24 | Women's Basketball

NEWARK, Del - Temple women's basketball defeats Delaware 67-56 to secure its first road win, Tuesday night at the Bob Carpenter Center. Anissa Rivera had a season-high 11 points and three steals. Tarriyonna Gary carried her strong performance from last week into this game, finishing with a team-high 17 points, including three shots from beyond the arc.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Temple opened the game with an early lead, as Tristen Taylor knocked down a jumper to put the Owls on the board first.
  • The Owls set the tone with aggressive defensive pressure, forcing Delaware into 10 turnovers in the first half.
  • Temple dominated early, launching a 9-0 run and holding the Blue Hens to just 9-of-31 shooting (29%) in the opening 20 minutes.
  • Temple had seven steals in the first half, two coming from Tarriyonna Gary and Amaya Oliver
  • Gary was a key contributor in the first half shooting 5-9 from the field with 13 points. 
  • TU led for 18:40 in the first half with the largest lead of 14 pts and the longest run was 11-0. 
  • In the second half, Temple's bench scoring saw a boost, jumping from four points in the first half to 10.
  • In the third quarter the margin was cut to five points, Anissa Rivera and Gary hit timely threes to extend the lead for the Owls.
  • The Blue Hens outscored the Owls in the third quarter 17-15. 
  • Temple's largest margin of the game came in the fourth quarter, where they led by as many as 16 points.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Tristen Taylor shot 4-9 from the field with 10 points and a season-high seven assists and zero turnovers.
  • Gary shot 50% from the floor, and was the leading scoring for Temple with 17 points and five rebounds. 
  • Gary moves into ninth with 131 three-pointers in her career at Temple.
  • Oliver has eight points, eight rebounds, two steals, and one block. 
  • Anissa Rivera had a season-high 11 points and steals (3). She also had seven rebounds and two assists.
  • Temple outrebounded Delaware 44 to 40. 
UP NEXT
The Owls stay on the road and they are back in action on Friday, November 15, at VCU. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
