Green Earns Second Team All-Conference and Three Owls Named to AAC All-Freshman Team
11.7.24 | Men's Soccer
PHILADELPHIA-Â Kemali Green was named to the AAC All-Conference second team, while Nathan Brown, Charlie Votel, and Edgar Bazan were each named to the All-Freshman team. Having three players on the All-Freshman Team gives Temple the highest representation in the conference.
Kemali Green has been a standout leader for the Temple defense all season. His consistent performance earned him multiple recognitions, including three placements on the AAC Honor Roll and two AAC Defensive Player of the Week awards. Green also received Philly Soccer Six Defensive Player of the Week honors on two occasions and was featured on the honor roll three times. His contributions have been crucial to Temple's late-season push, helping the Owls allow only four goals in conference play—the second-fewest in the AAC.
Nathan Brown has been a key piece of the puzzle for the Owls from start to finish. Brown was named the AAC Freshman of the Week and Philly Soccer Six Rookie of the Week after hitting the back of the net during Temple's win against Mercyhurst. Following Temple's win against Akron, Brown again won Philly Soccer Six Rookie of the Week after drawing a crucial penalty which led to a 1-0 Owl win. Brown ranks fourth on the team in attempted shots with 12.
Charlie Votel has been a standout for the Owls in his debut season. Votel earned AAC Freshman of the Week honors after scoring his first career goal in TU's 3-2 victory against Villanova (Aug. 25). Votel also was named to the Philly Soccer Six Honor Roll following Temple's 1-0 victory against Tulsa (Nov. 1). The freshman from California ranks second on the team with seven shots on goal.
Lastly, Edgar Bazan was crucial to Temple's strategy throughout the entire season. Bazan was named to the Philly Soccer Six honor roll twice, on Sept. 11 and Oct. 2. Bazan has been a key player for Temple this season, starting in eight of the team's 15 matches and scoring in Temple's 1-1 draw against Florida Atlantic on Sept. 29.
The Owls now get set for the first round of the AAC Championships as TU will face Charlotte on the road from the Tar Heel State. The action from Transamerica Field is set to start on Friday, Nov. 8 at 7:00 p.m.
