PHILADELPHIA- Temple women's basketball (5-4, 0-0 AAC) falls to #15 West Virginia (10-1, 0-0 Big 12) in front of 1,672 at the Liacouras Center. The leading scorer for the Owls Tiarra East had 12 points, seven rebounds, and two assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter

Temple won the tip and Jaleesa Molina followed a missed shot with a rebound and easy putback for the game's first score.
After two made free throws by West Virginia, Tiara East hit an early three-pointer for a 5-2 lead before WVU answered with a 5-0 run at the first media timeout at 6:50 (7-5).
WVU used three threes while Temple chipped away from inside to bring the score to 16-13 at the end of the quarter. The Owls outscored the Mountaineers 8-2 from the paint in the first frame.
The Owls held West Virginia to 27% shooting in the first quarter. The Mountaineers went 5-18 from the field while the Owls went 5-16.

Second Quarter

The Mountaineers scored the first points in the second quarter with a jumper by Harrison and Kayla Watson.
Molina responded with a layup making the score 20-15 with 8:31 remaining.
An overall 9-2 run by WVU to start the period put the Mountaineers ahead 24-15 at the first media timeout at 4:52.
The Owls went 0-10 in a 6:03 duration in the second quarter, which ended with a three-point shot from Tarriyonna Gary at 2:15 (WVU up 27-18).
Another Temple three, this one by Kelian Cedano just before the end of the half, sent the two teams into halftime with a 31-21 score.

Third Quarter

The Mountaineers opened the second half with an uncontested three from J.J. Quinerly. Temple responded with a quick layup on the other side of the court by Molina.
A 9-3 run by WVU was ended by a pair of three-pointers by East, making the score 40-30.
Heading into the media timeout, Temple snagged three rebounds to stave off the Mountaineers from extending their lead, 44-30.
While heading into the first media timeout, The Owls were 1-7 in their last FG attempts.
Coming out after the media timeout, the Owls went on a 6-2 run, with scores from Oliver, Turner, and Rivera, cutting the WVU lead to 10.
The Mountaineers finished off the quarter with two from beyond the arc from junior guards, Watson and Harrison, 52-36.

Fourth Quarter

Tristen Taylor scored first for the Owls with a floater. WVU responded with four points of its own to reach an 18-point lead, the largest of the game. (56-38)
Heading into the media timeout at 4:46, the Owls were 0-6 on the floor and had a scoring drought of 2:03. Temple scored two coming out of the timeout but an 8-0 run pushed WVU's lead to 24 (68-44) leading to a Temple timeout at 1:20.
The Owls fell 68-46 to the Mountaineers.
