Temple Wraps Up Non-Conference Play at the Raising the B.A.R Invitational

BERKELEY, Calif.- Temple women's basketball (6-5, 0-0 AAC) fell to No. 24 Cal (13-1, 0-0 ACC) 89-63 in the Championship game in the Raising the B.A.R Invitational. Tristen Taylor had a season-high 17 points, shooting 7-10 from the field.

First Quarter
- Tristen Taylor scored first off of a turnover forced by the Owls on the Bear's first possession.
- The Bears went on a 10-0 run after the Owls made their first two baskets. Cal drilled two threes before Temple's timeout with 6:19 remaining, leading 10-4.
- Out of the timeout, Jaleesa Molina shot a long two ending Cal's 10-0 run.
- Tiarra East and Taylor scored jumpers for the Owls trimming the Bears lead to 8, 18-10, with under two minutes remaining.
- A 9-0 run by Temple to end the quarter, led by Tarriyonna Gary's five points, closed the gap to one, 20-19.
- Cal earned its points with four threes in the period while Temple played solid defense, outpacing the Bears in steals (3-0) and blocks (2-0).
- Cal scored the first points in the second quarter with two three-pointers from Lulu Twidale, extending the lead to 7, 26-19.
- Kaylah Turner (2) and Anissa Rivera (5) scored the last seven points for the Owls, trailing by five 32-27 before the media timeout with 4:35 remaining.
- Out of the media timeout East shot a jumper cutting the deficit to three, 32-29, Cal responded with a three from Ioanna Krimili.
- Amaya Oliver scored a jumper with 42 seconds remaining trimming the deficit to two. Krimili nailed a three to end the first half giving Cal a five point lead, 40-35.
- Cal continued its hot outside shooting in the second period going 6-11 from three, including 3-5 from Lulu Twidale. By halftime, they were 10-20 overall.
- Cal scored within the first 10 seconds with a layup from Oniyah. Oliver makes a layup, the Owls trailed by five, 42-37 with 8:47 remaining.
- Cal grabbed two offensive rebounds generating second-chance points, extending its lead to nine, 46-37. Oniyah scored six consecutive points for the Bears.
- Before the media timeout at 5:49, East scored four points, cutting the deficit to eight points, 49-41.
- Oliver had two blocks in the third quarter, one coming before the media timeout with 4:39 remaining.
- Out of the media timeout, the Bears made two threes giving them their largest lead of the night 16 points, 57-41.
- An 18-4 run by Cal beginning at 5:04 was ended by a Taylor three at 0:34 and gave the Bears a 67-46 lead. The quarter ended with two free throws and a 23-point, 69-46 lead for Cal.
- The Owls ended the third quarter going 2-10 from the field.
- Krimili scored her sixth three of the night to start the fourth quarter, 72-48.
- Taylor had double digits (12) points after making a three with 7:18 remaining, 74-51.
- After Temple's timeout, Cal made a layup, and Rivera responded with a long jumper.
- With 3:21 remaining, Taylor nailed her third three of the night 82-59.
- Taylor scored eight of Temple's 15 fourth-quarter points.
- Temple forced the Bears to four turnovers early in the first quarter.

- Temple opened the game with 19 points a season high for first-quarter points.

- Temple won the second chance battle in the first half with 14 points in the paint. In the first half, eight Owls were on the score sheet contributing to Temple's 35 points.
- Both teams shot over 50% from the field, 52% for Temple and 50% for Cal.
- Cal made 10 three-pointers in the first half which are the most the Owls have allowed all season.
- Temple was outscored 29-11 in the third quarter. The 29 points are a season-high for opponent points allowed in the third quarter.
- Cal outrebounded Temple 50-25 the lowest rebound margin this season.
- Cal had 23 second chance shots.
- Molina had a season-high eight points, with three rebounds and two steals.
- Temple had just four free throw attempts, the lowest number since 2022 against Bucknell where the Owls had four attempts.
