NEWS & NOTES
- The Temple University men's basketball team returns to Liacouras Center for the first time since November 12 as it plays host to Holy Family on Tuesday.
- The Owls are looking to snap a two-game losing skid, with both losses coming to Big 5 opponents (La Salle, Villanova).
- Freshman Aiden Tobiason was a bright spot for Temple at the Big 5 Classic on Saturday, registering five steals in a career-high 27 minutes of action.
- Graduate student Jamal Mashburn Jr. scored a team-high 20 points, the seventh time in his eight games at Temple that he has reached 20 points.
- Two other Temple players reached double figures in scoring against the Wildcats - Steve Settle III (11) and Zion Stanford (11).
- In Temple's contest against Villanova, three-point shooting played a pivotal role in the outcome - the Wildcats shot 63.3 percent from distance and connected on 19 three-pointers. In contract, the Owls hit 7 of 23 three-point attempts (30.4%).
- The 19 three-pointers by an opponent are the most against Temple in a single game since January 16, 2002, when St. Bonaventure connected on 19 threes in a 93-74 win over the Owls. and marks just the 20th time - and the 7th against a D1 opponent - this season that a college basketball team has hit that many threes.
- This will be the first-ever meeting between Temple and Holy Family, despite the fact that the two schools are roughly 12 miles apart from each other.
- The Tigers enter the game on Tuesday with a 5-3 record, and a 0-1 mark in conference play.
- The top defensive team in the CACC, Holy Family is limiting opponents to just 62.5 points per game and teams are hitting just 23.3% from three-point range.
- Tairi Ketner, a transfer from Division I Albany and the son of former NBA draft pick and Roman Catholic star Lari, is leading the team in scoring at 15.9 points per game.
- Redshirt senior Steve Settle III has done a little bit of everything for the Owls this year.
- He currently leads the team in rebounds (6.5/gm), assists (21), and blocked shots (10), while ranking second in scoring at 12.9 ppg.Â
