Men's Tennis Earns Impressive 6-1 Win Over Siena

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple men's tennis team improved to 3-4 on the young season as it defeated Siena College (1-6) 6-1 at Hecht Tennis Center at Penn on Saturday afternoon.

NOTES:

Starting off in doubles action, Temple earned the doubles point by picking up wins from the second and first position. In position two, former Siena Saint, Dante Russo and Martim Marujo defeated Zino Varouhas-Poole and Dylan Breen, 6-1. Out of the first position, Pranav Nemani and Adam Kresina knocked off Fabio Varella and Oscar Martinez by the score of 6-3. Henrique Petiz and Aayush Bhat also got in the win column out the third position, 7-5, over Maxwell Acri and Elijah Zifferblatt.
The singles matches finished in order from 1,2,3,4,5,6.
Temple earned a pair of victories from the first two positions to go up 3-0. Russo earned Temple's first win out of the first position with a 6-0, 6-3, over Varouhas-Poole and Marujo defeated Martinez, 7-6 (6), 6-3 out of position two.
Seina earned its only point of the afternoon out of the third spot as the Owls' Erden Er lost to Acri, 5-1, 7-6.
Kresina, Nemani, and sophomore Alberto Blumenschein closed out the match with three consecutive victories. The freshman Kresina defeated Duarte Melo, 6-1, 6-2 in position four. Nemani sealed a win in the fifth position, 6-1, 6-1 over Breen and Blumenschein defeated Zifferblatt by the score of 8-6 out of the sixth position.
