Women's Basketball to Host Tulane

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple women's basketball team (14-10, 8-4 AAC) will host Tulane (10-14, 3-10 AAC) on Monday, February 19 at 7 p.m. at the Liacouras Center. This will be the second meeting of the two teams this season; Temple traveled to New Orleans to play the Green Wave last month and returned with a 68-50 victory. > The Temple Women's Basketball team (14-10, 8-4 AAC) defeated the UAB Blazers (17-8, 8-5 AAC), 86-72, on the road in the first ever matchup between the two schools.
> An impressive first half, in which the Owls shot 60.7% from the field, gave the Owls an early advantage that would carry on to a conference road victory. Aleah Nelson impressed for the Cherry & White, finishing with a season-high 24 points, which ties the most points scored by an Owl in a game this season. Temple's offense played efficiently, as four Owls finished in double figures.
> Rayne Tucker finished the day with 15 rebounds, a new season high. She was just three boards shy of her career high of 18. She also had a season-high 4 blocks.
THE OWLS
> Temple currently ranks 9th in the NCAA in offensive rebounds per game (16.5) and 21st in turnover margin (+5.0). The Owls also rank second in the AAC to USF in turnovers per game (14.5).
> Tiarra East (12.0 ppg) and Aleah Nelson (12.3 pgg) are scoring over 10 points per game. Seven players are averaging over 6.7 points per game.
> Nelson has continued to stake her claim as one of the best passers in the AAC, ranking second in the conference in assist/turnover ratio (+2.1) and fourth in assists per game (4.2). Only seven players in the nation have more points and more assists than Nelson.
> On the boards, Rayne Tucker ranks 6th the AAC in rebounds per game with 8.0.
> Ines Piper is in the top 10 in the conference in blocks (27).
SCOUTING TULANE > The Green Wave is 10-14 with a 3-10 record in American Athletic Conference play. The team has dropped the last three games, with its most recent defeat coming against SMU,
> Kyren Whittington is the team's leader in points (16.5) and steals per game (2.7). Irina Parau paces the team in rebounds (6.5) and blocks (0.8)
> Lisa Stockton leads Tulane in her 30th season in New Orleans. During her time with the program, she led The Green Wave to 20 postseasons and has been Coach of the Year in three different conferences. She is 652-365 in her career.
SERIES HISTORY
> Temple and Tulane have played each other every season since Temple joined the AAC in 2013.
> The key feature of the series has been streaks. Temple won six of the first seven matchups between the two, but the Owls dropped seven straight from 2018-22.
> Temple traveled to Tulane earlier this season and won by 18 - its biggest margin of victory in the series.
