Owls Suffer First Loss of Season to #21 Yale

2.24.24 | Women's Lacrosse

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's lacrosse team suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday, falling 13-5 to #21 Yale. The Owls had won four in a row to start 2024.

Amelia Wright and Belle Mastropietro each scored twice for Temple, with Emily Liberio netting the Owls' fifth goal. Katie Shallow finished with three caused turnovers and two draw controls.

How it Happened
> Temple fired first, with Wright finding Mastropietro at the 9:18 mark of the first quarter. Yale took over after that, scoring ten in a row and holding the Owls scoreless for 38 minutes of game time.
> Liberio scored her third goal of the season with under a minute left in the third to break the Bulldogs' run. The Owls would score three of the next four, with Wright scoring twice and Mastropietro converting on a free-position attempt.
> Yale closed on a two goal run to push the final score back to eight.

Game Notes
> Mastropietro and Wright have combined for nine goals and three assists in the past two games. They are first and second on the team in goals and points.
> Taylor Grollman made a season high 15 saves, keeping her percentage above 50% for the year.
> Temple finished the game a perfect 15-15 on clear attempts.
