The Temple University men's basketball team returns to Philadelphia to celebrate Senior Day on Saturday, March 2 against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. Tipoff from the Liacouras Center is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. The game is presented by PFCU. Prior to the contest, the Owls will honor Sam Hofman, Emmanuel Okpomo, Taj Thweatt and Jahlil White for their contributions to the team.Â

Using a balanced scoring effort and stifling defense, Temple won its third consecutive game, claiming a 65-43 win against the Rice Owls on Wednesday night.

Top Tier Performance
The Owls had several season-best performances on Wednesday against Rice on both the offensive and defensive end. Temple shot 48.0 percent and also had its best defensive effort by limiting Rice's offense to 43 points and 25.9 percent shooting.Â
Swiping Left
As part of the high level performances for the year from Wednesday night, TU blocked seven shots. Its previous best was six against Bloomsburg. Jordan Riley and Steve Settle III each had two with Shane Dezonie, Sam Hofman and Jahlil White recording one apiece.
A Handful Of Games
The streak is now up to five games in a row with single digit turnovers for Temple, after giving the ball away just eight times against Rice. It is the 13th time this season the Owls turned the ball over less than 10 times. They have given the ball away a season-low five times twice, at Drexel on November 14 and versus Charlotte on February 11. Leading the offense for Tulsa is PJ Haggerty at 20.5 a night. He has been named the AAC Rookie of the Week 12 times this season, including eight in a row. Also in double figures is Cobe Williams, who scores 12.5 a game. Jared Garcia tops the team with 5.9 rebounds a night. Haggerty and Williams have 100 and 99 assists, respectively.Â
Getting out on the run is the name of the game for the Golden Hurricane, which is 21st nationally at 14.6 fastbreak points an outing. They also force their share of turnovers at 13.2 a night. Eric Konkol is in his second season as the head coach at Tulsa with a record of 19-39 with the Golden Hurricane. IN nine seasons as a collegiate mentor, he has 172-114 mark. Konkol led Louisiana Tech to six 20-win seasons in seven years and guided the Bulldogs to the Final Four of the 2021 NIT.
