Golf Tied for Ninth in Rutherford Intercollegiate

UNIVERSITY CITY-Â The Owls wrapped up the first day of the Rutherford Intercollegiate in a tie for ninth place. The team shot a combined 33-over par through the first 36 holes of the tournament, shooting a 306 in round one and then improving to a 295 in round two.Â

Recapping the Day
- Graham Chase led the Owls with a score of five-over par. He shot a three-over 74 in round one before knocking it down a stroke to a 73. The senior places tied for 15th in the individual field.Â
- In his first start of the spring, Jake Haberstumpf finished with the second-best score for the Owls. He started his weekend with a 78 and then found his stroke in the second round of the day shooting an impressive one-under 70. He places in a tie for 18th of the individual leaderboard after 36 holes.Â
- Ethan Whitney shot a pair of 76's in his first two rounds of the tournament for an overall score of 10 over par. He finds himself in a tie for 41st.Â
- Matthew Vital finished with an 83 in round one before shooting a 76 in round two.Â

The FieldÂ
- Tournament host, Penn State leads the field after the first two rounds with a score of 12-over par. They shot 293 in round one and 287 in round two. They have won eight straight Rutherford Intercollegiate tournaments.Â
- Anthony Delisanti of Valparaiso and Arsit Areephun of Delaware both shot two-under on the day for the individual lead. They were the only players to shoot under par in the field.Â
