No. 11 Temple to Play No. 6 Charlotte in Opening Round of AAC Tournament on Thursday

TULSA, Okla. - The Temple men's team (8-12) (0-2 AAC) have been ranked No. 11 in the AAC Conference Tournament and are set to face No. 6 nationally ranked No. 64 Charlotte (15-7) on Thursday, April 18, at 10 a.m. The match will be held at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on University of Tulsa's campus in Tulsa, Okla.
THE OWLS
- Temple wrapped up its regular season with two matches over the weekend. The Owls fell to Tulsa and No. 40 SMU, 4-0.
- Adam Kresina, a first-year Owl, has led the team in singles throughout the season. He enters the post-season with nine dual match victories. Dante Russo trails Kresina with seven.
- Russo holds the team doubles high, with six under his belt. The senior, and Sienna's former MAAC Player of the Year, earned three wins with Pranav Nemani and three with Gregoire Barety. During their last weekend of conference play, Russo/Barety defeated Tulsa's No. 37 Pierce Rollins/Carlsson Segar, 6-4.
- In the fall, Temple sent two student-athletes to Tulsa, OK to participate in the ITA-All American Championship Tournament: Gregoire Barety and Dante Russo.
- As a team, the Owls kept busy in the fall. They participated in the Penn Invite playing the likes of the University of Pennsylvania, Dartmouth, Liberty from Sept. 15-17, the ITA All-American Championship Tournament in Oklahoma from Oct. 1-3, and both Navy Invitationals from Oct. 15-17 and Nov. 9-11.
Scouting Charlotte
- Charlotte is 7-2 all-time against Temple. The Niners have won four of the last five matches. In 2013, the third-seeded 49ers won against the sixth-seeded Owls, 4-0, to advance to the Atlantic 10 semifinals. In 2011, Temple upended Charlotte 4-0 on the first day of the conference tournament.
- Charlotte defeated Davidson for its last match of the season, 7-0.
- Spencer Gray holds the Niners' season singles high, tallying 13. Ivan Dreycopp trails with 12.
- In doubles action, Matias Iturbe and Vasco Prata concluded the seaon with the team high of 12. Nine of both Niners' victories are from competing as a pair.
