Women's Tennis to Host Hofstra on Saturday and Hampton on Senior Day Sunday

PHILADELPHIA- The Owls (8-5) are set two host two matches over the weekend. On Saturday, April 6, Temple women's tennis will face Hofstra University (6-9) at the Hamlin Tennis Courts at 4 p.m. The following morning on Sunday, April 7, the Cherry and White will return to Hamlin to play Hampton University (8-6). This match marks Senior Day, in which the Owls will celebrate seniors Samantha Nanere, Vineetha Mummadi, Sena Takebe, Miu Yabata, and Evie Wei for their dedication to the program. 

THE OWLS
- The Owls enter the match after sweeping Binghamton, 7-0.
- The Cherry and White began its string of seven victories by sweeping Siena College and Villanova University, followed by wins against Norfolk State University,Howard University, and FDU. . 
- In doubles, Wei and Jessie Zheng uphold the team high, tallying 6 victories throughout the season, which ties Wei's record for most doubles wins in a single season. 
- Seated at No. 39 in doubles play, Maiko Uchijima and Nanere have also achieved No. 19 and 20 this season. 
- As a team, Temple completed an intense fall season, where it played in the Penn Invitational from Sept. 8-10, the Villanova Invitational from Sept. 15-17, the Cissie Leary Invitational from Sept. 22-24, ITA Regionals from Oct. 6-8, the Princeton Invitational from Oct. 13-15, ITA Super-Regionals from Nov. 1-5, and the doubles pair of Nanere and  Uchijima earned an invitation to the ITA National Fall Championships where they achieved the Round of 8. In November, the pair was ranked No. 20 in National Doubles Rankings. 

Scouting The Pride
- Hofstra will enter the weekend with a 6-9 overall and a 1-3 conference record. 
- The Pride found its sixth win against Wagner College, 4-1. 
- Dianela Rodriguez holds the team's greatest number of singles wins with a total of ten.
- The tandem of Lea Forste-Dinell/Deniz Soyer lead Hofstra in doubles, tallying seven. 

Scouting The Pirates
- Hampton obtains an 8-6 record, and will travel to Philadelphia after facing Campbell on Thursday, April 4. 
- The Pirates fell to ECU in their last mach, 4-3. 
- Mio Kozaki has nine solo wins, standing atop the squad in singles. 
- Sofia Sokolova and Meiri Okuwaki lead the Pirates with nine doubles victories.
