No. 3 Owls Taking on No. 2 JMU in Thursday's AAC Semifinals

NASHVILLE - The Temple women's lacrosse team will open postseason play in Thursday's American Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals at Vanderbilt. The No. 3 seeded Owls will face the No. 2 seeded and 18th ranked James Madison Dukes at 8:15 PM ET/7:15 PM CT.

News From the Nest
> Belle Mastropietro and Katie Shallow headlined Temple's representation in the AAC's postseason awards. Mastropietro was named the conference's Midfielder of the Year and Shallow was named Defensive Player of the Year, and both were unanimous All-AAC First Team selections.
> Mastropietro won her third straight Midfiielder of the Year award.
> Maddie Barber (First Team), Taylor Grollman (First Team), Mackenzie Roth (Second Team), and Maeve Tobin (Second Team) were also honored by the conference.
> The Owls enter the postseason ranking third in the country in caused turnovers (12.13/game) and sixth in ground balls (21.60/game).
> Temple is allowing the second fewest goals in the conference at 9.47 per game. That mark is also 11th best in the country.

Scouting the Dukes
> The Dukes enter in search of their eighth straight NCAA Tournament appearance. They were ranked #18 in the last regular season IWLCA poll.
> JMU is led by All-American and Tewaraaton Award nominee Isabella Peterson. She leads the conference with 61 goals (4.07 per game) and is among the top five in draw controls and points.

Series History
> Temple is 4-6 all-time in the matchup, with all ten prior meetings coming in the regular season.
> JMU prevailed 14-10 in Harrisonburg on April 6. Temple held an early 6-2 lead and remained tied with the Dukes late into the third quarter. Mackenzie Roth (4 G, 1 A) and Belle Mastropietro (3 G, 2 A) led the Owls with five points apiece.

Temple in the AAC Tournament
> The Owls are 1-3 in their three previous AAC Tournament appearances. They advanced to the finals in 2021, defeating Vanderbilt 15-11 in the semis.
