Women’s Rowing 2024 Spring Season Recap

PHILADELPHIA — The Temple Women's Rowing team concluded a productive 2024 spring season, in which the Owls secured several historic victories and numerous conference honors.

The Cherry & White saw historic success at the Kelly Cup and Kerr Cup in Philadelphia. Temple concluded the season with a fourth-place finish at the American Athletic Conference Championships in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Season Recap
  • The Cherry & White opened up the 2024 spring season at the Doc Hosea Regatta on the Cooper River in New Jersey. Temple's Varsity 8 and 2nd Varsity 8 boats placed fifth in each of their respective petite finals.
  • Up next, Temple returned home to its boathouse to host Delaware in a head-to-head. The Owls took victories in the Varsity 8, 2nd Varsity 8, and Novice 8 races.
  • At the George Washington Invite on the Potomac River, the Temple Varsity 8 led the way with a victory on Day 2 against West Virginia and Old Dominion. The Owls' valiant performance, through harsh racing conditions, earned the Varsity 8 recognition as the AAC Boat of the Week.
  • Temple found historic success at the Kerr Cup Regatta on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. The Cherry & White 2nd Varsity 8 was the story of the day, winning the Kerr Cup for the first time since 2016. The performance earned Temple's 2V8 recognition as the AAC Boat of the Week.
  • The Owls kept the momentum going at the Kelly Cup, once again making history on the Schuylkill River. Temple dominated the local competition, coming away with a victory at the Kelly Cup for the first time since 2006. The Owls took home first-place finishes in the Varsity 8, 2nd Varsity 8, 2nd Varsity 4, and 3rd Varsity 8.
  • At the competitive Women's Sprints on Lake Quinsigamond, the Owls took victories in third-level finals in both the Varsity 8 and 2nd Varsity 8. The Varsity 4 A and Varsity 4 B boats finished as runners up in their respective third-level finals.
  • At the historic Dad Vail Regatta on the Cooper River, Temple's Novice 8 boat placed fifth in the grand final. The Owls' 2nd Varsity 4 boat placed second in the petite final.
  • Temple concluded its season at the AAC Championships on Lake Melton in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The Owls scored 72 points as a team to place fourth overall. The Cherry & White's top finish came in the 2nd Varsity 4, which placed third. At the conclusion of the championships, Alex Catalano was named first-team All-AAC. Niamh Kiely and Amarna Milne both earned selections onto the All-AAC second team.
