Temple Alumnus Travis Mahoney to Compete in 2024 U.S. Track & Field Olympic Trials

EUGENE, Ore. — Temple Men's Cross Country and Track & Field alumnus Travis Mahoney is set to compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2024 U.S. Track & FIeld Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon.
The U.S. Track & Field Olympic Trials take place from June 21-30, with over 900 athletes competing to represent the States at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The opening round of the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase is scheduled for 7:49 p.m. ET on June 21. Mahoney will be competing in Heat 2, with 15 runners participating per heat.
Mahoney was recently announced as a member of the 2024 Temple Athletics Hall of Fame class this spring. During his time in North Philadelphia, Mahoney earned All-America status in cross country and twice in track. Mahoney earned Atlantic 10 Conference Performer of the Year in cross country in 2012, indoor track in 2012, and outdoor track in 2011 and 2012.
Qualified runners who advance past the opening round will compete in the finals at 10:07 p.m. ET on June 23. In the opening rounds, the top five finishers in each heat plus the next four fastest times overall advance into the finals. The top three athletes in the finals will punch their ticket to the Paris Olympics.
