Men’s and Women’s Tennis Earn 2023-24 ITA Academic Honors

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Temple men's and women's tennis teams were named 2023-24 All-Academic teams by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association while nine Owls were named ITA Scholar Athletes, as announced by the organization.

Men's tennis players Aayush Bhat, Adam Kresina, Maj Najvirt Kolaric, and Alberto Blumenschein, along with women's tennis players Vineetha MummadiThamara Frasser Kawaratani, Marianthi Christoforidou, Samantha Nanere, Jessie Zheng, Sena Takebe, and Veda Prapurna were all honored for their successes both on the court and in the classroom.

The women's tennis team garnered a team GPA of 3.56 while the men's team registered a GPA of 3.35. The academic honor marks the seventh straight season for the women and the ninth straight season for the men.

For the men, Blumenschein is a repeat honoree, while Kolaric, Bhat, and Kresina are first time award winners with Temple.

On the women's side, Mummadi added her fourth straight nod, while Kawarantani and Takebe  earned their second and third plaudits respectively. Christoforidou and Zheng add their first of their respective careers.

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the current academic year (on a 4.00 scale) and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.

To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements: 1.) have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), 2.) all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and 3.) all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
