Owls Draw Even in Season Opener against Army

PHILADELPHIA-Â The Temple University men's soccer team opened the 2024 season at home against the Army Black Knights in a 1-1 draw Thursday night.Â
George Medill scored the first goal of the season for the Owls in the 24th minute, receiving the pass from Elias Betancourt to give TU the early advantage. The lead would hold until the 70th minute when a foul resulted in a penalty shot opportunity for Army, which the Black Knights capitalized on to even the score at one apiece.

TU would stay on the attack for the rest of the second half, firing 11 goals through the final 45 minutes. However, the match stayed deadlocked for the rest of the half as goalie Flannan Riley held his ground in net for TU, finishing with five saves on the evening.Â
Up next, the Owls will host the Villanova Wildcats on Sunday, August 25. The action from Temple Sports Complex is slated for a 7:00 p.m. start.
