Hummel Records Career Highs in Kills and Digs

COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS – The Temple volleyball team (3-5) fell in straight sets, 25-10, 25-18, 28-26 to Texas A&M (5-0) on Friday night to begin the Aggie Invitational at Reed Arena.  
 
How it Happened
  • Owls' outside hitter Taylor Davenport led all hitters with 12 kills in the match while the Aggies' Morgan Perkins led her team with 10 kills.
  • As a team the Aggies hit .215, while Temple was held to .021 with help of 10 team blocks. Individually, Ifenna Cos-Okpalla led all players with eight.
  • Temple sophomore Olivia Hummel set career-highs with eight kills and eight digs in the match.
 
Set 1 (TAMU 25, TEM 10)
  • With the score 16-10 in favor of the Aggies, Texas A&M scored the final nine points unanswered. During the run, Tatum Thomas earned both of her service aces on the night while Taylor Humphrey connected on two of five kills in the match.
  • Humphrey led all hitters in the set with four of her five kills in the set victory.
 
Set 2 (TAMU 25, TEM 18)
  • The Owls jumped out to a 5-3 lead with help of a 4-0 run, forcing three attack errors by the Aggies.
  • TAMU turned the advantage to their favor, scoring three straight points, capped off by Ava Underwood's only service ace of the match.
  • Both teams would continue to trade points with the Cherry and White taking the lead briefly at 12-11 before Texas A&M pulled away by scoring six straight points on the serve of Ellee Stinson.
 
Set 3 (TAMU 28, TEM 26)
  • At an even 7-7 score, Temple rallied off five points forcing TAMU with three attack errors and taking a 12-7 lead.
  • The Owls would jump out to another five point lead, 22-16, again by forcing Aggies' hitters into three more attack errors.
  • Texas A&M answered by going on a 6-0 run, capped off by three straight blocks; one from Logan Lednicky and two from Cos-Okpalla.
  • Both teams traded set points; two from Temple and two from TAMU. The Aggies finalized the sweep, rallying for the final three points

Up Next
The Owls will be back in action on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET. as they take on the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns. Saturday's match will not have a stream available but will be available on StatBroadcast.
