Kaohelaulii Picks 1,000th-Career Dig at Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. – On Sunday, the Owls' volleyball team (6-8, 0-2 AAC) fell in three sets, 20-25, 14-25, 23-25, to Tulsa (10-4, 2-0 AAC) in American Athletic Conference play. Offensively, Temple graduate student Taylor Davenport led the match with 14 kills while libero Hikialani Kaohelaulii tied for a team-high of 10 digs on her way to 1,000 career digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tulsa's Tatum Tornatta led her team with 10 kills while hitting .320.
- Along with Kaohelaulii, Avery Luoma, and Lexi Yoza tied for the team-high of 10 digs.
- Yoza led the Owls with 19 assists, on her way to her third double-double of the season.
- The Owls went into the media timeout leading by a one-point, 15-14, with Taylor Davenport led Temple with five kills, hitting .625 and Chelci Banks is hitting 1.000 with three kills.
- Coming out of the timeout, Tulsa kept Davenport to one kill down the stretch, while Banks had zero.
- Tulsa's Arianna Mongare, Beth Bayless, and Rachel Brown had four kills apiece in the set for the Golden Hurricane, hitting .333 or better.
- Tulsa took a three-point lead, 15-12, into the media timeout. Taylor Davenport kept the match close going into the media timeout with all four of her kills.
- The Golden Hurricane held the Cherry and White to two points after media timeout, scoring 10 of the final 12 points. Tornatta and Rachel Brown tallied two kill apiece down the stretch.
- After falling behind, 8-1 the Owls cut the Golden Hurricane lead to three points to 15-12. Taylor Davenport led the charge with three kills and a block.
- The Owls ran off five straight points to take a 20-18 lead with the help of a kill from freshman Christiana Greene and a block assist from Avery Luoma and Alyssa Finister.
- The Golden Hurricane tied the score but allowed Temple to come back to grab the lead, 21-20.
- Tulsa once again tied the match and gained the momentum scoring five of the final seven points as Tytiana Johnson and Mongare had a kill each while Regan Pendleton tallied a service ace to seal the match victory.
