No. 11 Fencing Secures Undefeated Weekend, Tops No. 12 Yale at Philadelphia Invitational

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 11 Temple fencing team concluded the Philadelphia Invitational on Sunday with a flawless showing at the Tse Center, highlighted by a win over No. 12 Yale. The Cherry and White also secured victories against Fairleigh Dickinson, Haverford, NJIT, and Lafayette, capping off the weekend with a perfect 8-0 record.

MEET SUMMARY
- Temple opened the day by defeating Fairleigh Dickinson, 22-5.
- The Owls then followed with three more dominant performances, topping Haverford, NJIT, and Lafayette–all by the score of 25-2.
- In the final match of the day, Temple faced another USFCA-ranked opponent, No. 12 Yale. A 6-3 advantage in foil proved pivotal, as the Owls edged out the Bulldogs, 14-13.
INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
- The foil squad had a strong showing, finishing the day with a 39-3 record. The only three losses occurred against No. 12 Yale, however, the combination of Constanca Dimas, Renee Oymann, and Anna Novoseltseva won the final three bouts, securing a top-15 victory for the Owls.
- The epee squad was led by Cindy Long and Anne-Mai Melles, who each finished with nine wins apiece.
- In sabre, Eva Ventura impressed with an 8-1 showing, while Samantha Nathanson went undefeated, finishing the day 6-0,.
