Women's Tennis Faces Crosstown Rival Saint Joseph's This Friday

PHILADELPHIA - This Friday, January 24, the Temple women's tennis team will hit the road for a crosstown match up against Saint Joseph's University.

SCOUTING TEMPLE

Martyna Mackiewicz showcased her dominance at #4 singles with a convincing performance, taking down Appalachian State's Ruby Broadbent in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4. Her consistent baseline plays and well-timed aggression kept her opponent on the back foot throughout the match, securing an important win for Temple.
In doubles action, Maria Martinez and Shevita Aulana emerged as the bright spot for the Owls, notching the team's sole doubles victory. The pair demonstrated excellent chemistry and precision, overcoming VCU's Mariam Ibrahim and Lea Malazdra in a tightly contested 6-4 battle.

SCOUTING SAINT JOSEPH

Saint Joseph's women's tennis excelled at the A-10 Masters and Drexel's Dragon Invitational, with Gisele Tang winning her opening match after a tough comeback. The Hawks secured the doubles point with victories in the top two flights, and Addison Melfi, Claudia Perez-Garcia, and Brooke Tackett sealed key singles wins with super tiebreakers.
