HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Roadrunner offense came out quick in the early stages of the game. UTSA connected three of their first four three-point attempts.
- Temple's offense remained stifled through the first portion of the game. Jamal Mashburn Jr. was consistently shooting and keeping the Owls in the game.
- Raekwon Horton proved to be the hot hand throughout the duration of the first half on either side of the court. The senior had 15 points with five minutes to go in the first.
- UTSA got the lead up to 14, but Mashburn Jr. knocked down his second three-pointer of the game with 4:24 left in the opening half.
- The final minutes of the first half favored the Owls, at one point getting the UTSA lead down to five points thanks to Shane Dezonie. UTSA got the lead back up to eight as halftime arrived.
- An exchange of early of three-point baskets is how the second half started. Temple's offense came out firing, trying to quickly get back in the game.
- Just over three minutes into the game, Temple cut the lead to three points, thanks to a deep three-point bucket from Steve Settle.
- UTSA continued to pull away whenever the Owls closed in on their lead. At one point up by only one point, the Roadrunners would then outscore Temple 12-5 over the next four minutes of play.
- The Cherry and White would not go away. A big bucket and foul conversion by Mashburn Jr. at the 8:31 mark would bring Temple within six.
- At the final media timeout, Temple found themselves down by one point, and Steve Settle III at the line after the break. The R-Senior converted one of the two shots to tie the game at 74 points.
- From that point, UTSA made timely buckets, and free throws to come away with the win.
