Opening Tip
- Temple looks to snap a two-game skid and extend its eight-game home win streak on Wednesday with a matchup against Charlotte at the Liacouras Center.
- The Owls got off to a slow start, trailing 23-7 at the 14:33 mark of the first half following a three-pointer by the Roadrunners - one of six over the first 5:27.
- UTSA held an 11-point lead after its first offensive possession of the second half, before Temple used a 12-2 run to cut the margin to just one at the 16:50 mark.
- Ten straight points by the home team put momentum back in their favor, but the Owls once again came back and tied the game on a free throw by Steve Settle III at the 3:55 mark.
- But Temple could never take the lead down the stretch, and UTSA's leading scorer Primo Spears had six of his team-high 20 points in the final 1:19 to help seal the win for the Roadrunners.Â
- Jamal Mashburn Jr. also had 20 points to lead the Owls, while Settle III added 18 and Zion Stanford had 17 off the bench.
- Temple's reserves outscored UTSA's bench, 26-12, marking the 16th time in 20 games that the Owls have had better bench production than their opponent.
- The Owls will put their undefeated home record on the line Wednesday - Temple is 8-0 at Liacouras Center this season, the team's best start to a home schedule since going a perfect 14-0 in 2010-11.
- 5 Straight games with at least ten offensive rebounds. Babatunde Durodola currently leads the Owls with 2.1 offensive rebounds per game.
- 7 Consecutive games decided by single digits for the Owls. Temple and East Carolina are the only AAC teams to have every conference game decided by single digits.
- 14 20-point games for Jamal Mashburn Jr. this season is the most by a Temple player since Shizz Alston Jr. recorded 18 during the 2018-19 season.
- 80.3 Points per game at home for Temple ranks second in the conference, behind only UAB. The Owls are off to their best home start since 2010-11, when they went undefeated.
- The 49ers are fresh off their first American Athletic Conference victory of the season, a 69-61 win over South Florida on Jan. 22.
- Charlotte will have a full week off heading into Wednesday's matchup with the Owls.
- Nik Graves was one of four players to reach double figures for the 49ers in their win over USF, finishing with 19 points and eight rebounds.
- Giancarlo Rosado flirted with a triple double, registering nine points, 11 rebounds and nine assists in just 27 minutes of action.
- Graves paces the squad in scoring at 16.4 ppg, while Rosado is averaging a team-best 6.4 rebounds per game while scoring at an 11.6 ppg clip.
- Robert Braswell IV is averaging 11.4 ppg and has a team-high 15 blocked shots.
