No. 11 Fencing Travels to Northwestern to Compete at Schiller Duals

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 11 Temple Fencing team will travel to the Windy City this weekend to take place in the two-day Schiller Duals, hosted at Northwestern University. Temple opens competition on Saturday morning against the host squad, No. 5 Northwestern, at 9:15 a.m. The Owls will also take on Denison, No. 2 Notre Dame, Detroit Mercy, Wayne State, and No. 8 Cornell throughout the day.
Action resumes on Sunday as the Cherry and White begin the day against Cleveland State at 10:10 a.m. Temple will then face Lawrence, UC San Diego, No. 10 Ohio State, and Incarnate Word to close out the weekend.
LAST TIME OUT
Temple returns to action following a 2-3 showing at the Penn State Invitational last Sunday. The Owls secured wins over Wagner and No. 13 Penn State but faced tough competition against some of the nation's top programs. Temple narrowly fell to No. 7 Penn, and also dropped matches to No. 4 Princeton and No. 3 Columbia in a competitive field.
INDIVIDUALLY AT PENN STATE INVITATIONAL
Individually, Temple finished with a 66-66 bout record during the Penn State Invitational.
Junior Renee Oymann led the foil squad, earning six wins. She went 2-1 in Temple's victory over No. 13 Penn State and matched that record against No. 7 Penn.
Freshman epeeist Victoria Doroshkevich led the Owls with a team-high nine wins, finishing the day with just three losses. She delivered a 3-0 performance against No. 4 Princeton and added a 2-1 mark versus No. 3 Columbia.
Sophomore sabreist Lauren Johnson went 8-4 on Sunday, highlighted by two wins over both No. 4 Princeton and No. 7 Penn.

Temple will be back in action next weekend on Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Duke Invitational.
