EVANSTON, Ill. – The No. 11 Temple fencing team finished 3-3 on the first day of the Schiller Duals hosted by Northwestern. After a challenging start with three early defeats, the Owls rebounded well, closing the day with three straight victories, including a Top 10 win over No. 8 Cornell. The victory marked Temple's fourth win over a USFCA Top 15 opponent this season.

MEET SUMMARY
- The Owls started the morning by falling to No. 5 Northwestern, 12-15.
- Temple then suffered back-to-back narrow 13-14 losses against No. 7 (DIII) Denison, and No. 2 Notre Dame.
- The team earned their first win of the day over Detroit Mercy, 26-1, then followed it with victory over Wayne State, 20-7.
- In the last round of the day, Temple won a Top 10 matchup over No. 8 Cornell, 18-9.
INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
- After missing the previous meet at Penn State, senior foilist Anna Novoseltseva made an instant impact on day one at Northwestern. She posted an impressive 11-1 record, which included 3-0 sweeps against three Top 10 teams—No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 5 Northwestern, and No. 8 Cornell.
- Sophomore epeeist Grace Smith led her squad with eight wins, highlighted by a 3-0 performance in the victory over No. 8 Cornell.
- Senior Eva Ventura paced the sabreists, finishing the day with six wins.
