PHILADELPHIA – UConn senior forward Julia Bressler scored on a penalty stroke with 10:26 remaining in the second quarter, proving to be the difference in a 1-0 win over the Temple University field hockey team on Friday afternoon at Howarth Field.

The Owls (9-3, 2-2 BIG EAST) look to bounce back Sunday against Lock Haven, while the Huskies (6-5, 3-1 BIG EAST) host Yale in a Sunday showdown.

How It Happened
With just over 10 minutes left in the second frame, Bressler buried a penalty stroke to the left corner, beating diving goalkeeper Alex Lepore for the lone goal of the contest.

Lepore got revenge in the second half, making a critical save off Bressler with 21.7 seconds remaining in the third quarter on another penalty stroke attempt.

By the Numbers

Both teams tallied six shots, with the Owls holding a 5-3 edge in shots on goal.
Lepore (9-2) made two saves in the narrow loss for the sophomore from Devon, Pa.
UConn's Natalie McKenna earned her sixth win of the season, making four saves in the shutout.
Temple also held a 3-2 advantage in penalty corners.
