Women’s Tennis Caps Off ITA Regionals with Multiple Victories

PHILADELPHIA – Members of the Temple women's tennis team finished competition at the ITA Regionals hosted by Penn from Oct. 9 to Oct. 14. In the main draw, Thamara Kawaratani and Irmak Ozturk each advanced to the second round, while Ozturk and Tianni Zhou each advanced to round two in doubles.

How It Happened

Zhou picked up the first win of her collegiate career in doubles alongside Ozturk against opponents from Drexel, winning 8-2. Kawaratani and Marianthi Christoforidou would join the pair in the win column, defeating a duo from Villanova.
Kawaratani and Ozturk each collected wins in round one of the main draw before falling in round two.
In qualifiers, Nina Andreoni advanced to the second round of the tournament, defeating her opponent from Penn, while Kawaratani advanced to round three.
