FIU Tops Temple Despite Kampula Goal in Second Half

MIAMI – Despite a strong second-half effort, the Temple men's soccer team fell to the FIU Panthers, 3-1, on Friday, Oct. 3. Paolo Kampula put Temple on the scoreboard for his second goal of the season as the Owls will next prepare to face Penn at home on Tuesday, Oct. 7.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a defensive battle at the start, with only two shots in the first thirty minutes before FIU broke through with three goals in a fifteen-minute span to close the first half of play up 3-0.
- Temple started the second half with steady pressure, producing three shots and a corner that resulted in a header from Kampula to put the Owls on the board.
- Temple kept the pressure on with five more shots in the second half, but FIU's back line held strong as the Panthers closed out a 3-1 win.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Kampula notched his second goal of the season after previously scoring against Ohio State (Aug. 31). The senior Philly native finished the night with three shots, leading the Owls.
- Following Kampula, Elliot Rigbert and Rocco Haeufgloeckner recorded two shots apiece, including one on target from Rigbert.
- In goal, Diego Dauzier hauled in four saves in the second half of play. Temple currently leads the conference with 44 saves this season.
UP NEXT
The Owls will next return to North Broad for a matchup against City Soccer Six opponent Penn on Tuesday, Oct. 7. Kickoff from Temple Sports Complex is set for 7 p.m.
