Temple Battles Through Tight Sets in Home Loss to FAU

PHILADELPHIA – Temple volleyball (11-7, 1-3 American) fell to Florida Atlantic (12-5, 3-1 American) Sunday afternoon at McGonigle Hall. The Owls' offense was led by Christiana Greene, who recorded another double-digit kill performance with 13.
SET 1 (Temple 19, FAU 25)
A service ace by Leia Harper and kills from Christiana Greene gave the Owls an early four-point advantage over FAU, 9-5.
Florida Atlantic regained momentum to take the lead, 19-14, and closed out the first set, 25-19.
SET 2 (Temple 23, FAU 25)
After trailing by four, Temple chipped away at FAU's lead with back-to-back kills from Greene and Mariyana Cardwell to pull within one, 14-13.
The Cherry & White stayed within striking distance but FAU held on to take the second set, 25-23.
SET 3 (Temple 26, FAU 28)
Temple opened with a 4-0 run fueled by an ace from Maddie Metcalf and a pair of kills from Greene, her tenth of the match, to take a 5-1 lead.
The set featured seven ties before FAU edged ahead, 21-19, and eventually sealed the match with a 28-26 win.

Freshman Maddie Metcalf led the team defensively with 15 digs and added one ace.

The Owls continue their homestand against ECU on Friday, Oct. 10, at noon before traveling to Charlotte for a Sunday matchup. Both matches will stream live on ESPN+.
