Temple Set for Final Road Swing in Texas

11.5.25 | Women's Volleyball

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's volleyball will head to Texas for its final two away matches of the 2025 season. The Owls will face the UTSA Roadrunners at 7 p.m. (EST) on Friday and the North Texas Mean Green at 1 p.m. (EST) on Sunday. Temple enters the weekend on a four-match win streak, improving its overall home record to 6-4.

OWLS IN THE NEST
Last weekend, the Owls recorded a sweep with wins over both Charlotte and East Carolina, improving to 5-7 in American Athletic Conference play.

Qairo Bentley anchored Temple's defense, totaling 32 digs (4.00 per set) and posting a .975 reception percentage across two matches. She registered a season-high 25 digs in the win over Charlotte and added 12 more against East Carolina.

Junior outside hitter Christiana Greene powered Temple's attack with 40 kills (5.00 per set) on a .189 hitting percentage. She delivered a career-high 24 kills against Charlotte, followed by 16 kills and 10 digs at East Carolina, marking her second career double-double. Greene added five total blocks and one ace, averaging 5.44 points per set to lead all Owls offensively. She now ranks fifth in the conference in kills and seventh in points.

Alongside Greene, graduate outside hitter Leia Harper was also a steady offensive presence, posting 25 kills (3.13 per set) while hitting .328 on the weekend. Harper tallied 11 kills and three aces in the win over Charlotte before following up with 14 kills on a .393 hitting percentage at East Carolina.

The glue to the offense, junior setter Lexi Yoza, orchestrated the Owls' attack with 50 assists (6.25 per set) and two service aces across both matches. Yoza recorded 25 assists in each contest and added 19 digs. Supporting her, sophomore setter Daniela Gonzalez Murati continued to make an impact, dishing out 27 assists (3.86 per set).

Scouting UTSA
UTSA fell to North Texas in a sweep where the Roadrunners were limited to only 18 points. This season, Ally Trible and Gigi Mason lead the offense with over 200 kills apiece. Trible is a threat all over the court, adding 229 digs, second on the team behind Giada Obregon, who leads with 265. The Roadrunners also have two of the top servers in the conference, with Obregon and Gainers ranking first and second in aces during American play. As a team, UTSA ranks second in total aces, trailing by USF. The Roadrunners' head coach is Carol Price-Trock, who took over the head coaching job in 2025 after being the USTA's assistant coach for four seasons.

Temple leads the all-time series 3-0. The last meeting between the programs resulted in a sweep for the Owls.

Scouting North Texas
North Texas swept UTSA to clinch an American Championship berth, out-killing the Roadrunners 42-26 and hitting .278 compared to UTSA's .068. After opening conference play with a 1-3 record, the Mean Green have rattled off eight straight American wins. Against UTSA, outside hitter Reagan Bedell led the match with 15 points, tallying 10 kills, three aces, three blocks, and 15 digs for her eighth double-double of the season. The Mean Green have three players with over 200 kills this year, with Bedell leading the way with 296 and 36 aces, ranking third in the conference. Dakota Mitchell adds consistency on defense, averaging 3.36 digs per set with 323 total digs on the season. The Mean Green are coached by Dave Fleming, who enters his first season.

The all-time series is tied 1-1, with the Owls winning the most recent matchup at McGonigle Hall, 3-0.
