Temple earned an 84-64 win over Western Carolina in the consolation game in the Baha Mar Hoops Tournament in Nassau, Bahamas. The Owls snapped a three-game losing streak with the win.
Kaylah Tuner led all Owls with 23 points, while Jaleesa Molina (12 points) and Savannah Curry (11 points) followed behind in the win on Sunday.
Against Western Carolina, Temple finished with its largest Rebound margin this season with a +22 (41-19).
Kaylah Turner earned American Conference Honorable Mention honors, following her 23 PTS, 7-10 FG, 5 REB, 4 AST. Turner shot a season-high 70% from field.
Temple for the second-time this season shot above 40% from three against Western Carolina, shooting 9-22 (40.9%). The Owls haven't shot above 40% since George Washington.

Scouting the Dragons

The Dragons are coming off a 55-48 win over American University. Giving them a record of 5-3 going into the Big 5 Classic.
Drexel has now had 11 consecutive winning seasons under coach Amy Mallon after ending the 2024-25 campagin with an overall record of 17-13. This season they are picked to finish second in the Costal Athletic Association.
Amaris Baker earned All-CAA First team selection last year and is once again projected to join that list this season. Baker currently leads the Dragons in nearly every scoring metric. Baker has 166 points through eight games (20.8 Avg.). She is 61-154 (.396%) from the field, and is 19-50 (.380%) from behind the arc.
Junior guard Laine McGurk is second on the team in points with 119 through eight games (14.9 Avg.) She has registered double-digit points in six games this season. She has the best 3PT% on the team (min. five or more 3PT made) with a .424% (14-33).
Last season was the first time the Dragons faced the Owls since they met in the WNIT in 2016. Drexel has played Temple four times and has not managed to come away with a win. With the first game being played back in 2005.
Just two seasons ago, the Dragons went to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in program history (2009, 2021, and 2024). They ended up losing to #1 Texas, 42-82.

Kay Yow Servant Leader

This year, the Kay Yow Award spans 22 conferences across all divisions — DI, DII, DIII, and JUCO.
Each conference honoree will be recognized as a Servant Leader and will wear a special patch on their jersey during the season.

Under New Leadership

Jaleesa Molina, Tristen Taylor, and Kaylah Turner have been named team captains for the 2025–26 season.
Taylor and Molina are the only returning starters from the 2024–25 roster.
Taylor averaged 6.7 points and a team-high 3.6 assists per game last season.
Molina averaged 7.4 points and 7 rebounds per game while shooting 52.5% from the field.
Turner appeared in 31 games (two starts), averaging 10.1 points per game — third-highest on the team — while shooting 41% from the field and 37% from three.
