No. 8 Fencing Sends Five to Junior Olympics this Weekend

PHILADELPHIA – No. 8 Temple Fencing will travel five underclassmen to compete at USA Fencing's Junior Olympics in Charlotte, N.C. this weekend. The Owls will take the strip on Friday, Feb. 14, and Saturday, Feb. 15.
Sabre
The Owls will return to action next weekend at the Temple Invitational on Sunday, Feb. 23. Competition begins at 8:30 a.m. in McGonigle Hall, with the annual Senior Day recognition scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

Sabre
- Two sabreists will kick off the weekend for Temple on Friday at 8 a.m. in the Division I Sabre competition. Freshmen Samantha Nathanson and Alexandra Papapetropoulou will represent the Owls, both in the midst of impressive freshman campaigns.
- Nathanson leads the team in dual meet wins this season with 49 victories, while Papapetropoulou has recorded 26 wins and placed 12th at the Nikki Franke Classic in November.
- Temple's epee squad will be well represented with three competitors in Charlotte. Sophomore Lindsey Minor and freshmen Victoria Doroshkevich and Auprell Edwards will compete on Saturday at 11 a.m.
- Minor is coming off a 6-1 performance at the Beguinet Classic and has 21 wins this season.
- Doroshkevich has made an immediate impact with 43 wins in her first season.
- Edwards has also been a key contributor, securing 30 wins thus far.
