Recognizing the Female Leaders of Temple Football
2.5.25 | Football
On National Girls and Women in Sports Day, Temple Football is proud to highlight the four full-time women within the program. Each of them took a moment to share what working in the sports industry means to them and offered advice to those aspiring to follow in their footsteps.
Â
Nadia Harvin, who serves as the Executive Assistant to the Head Football Coach, and has been at Temple since 1985. Inducted into the Temple Athletics Hall of Fame in 2023, Harvin has dedicated nearly 30 years to working with the team:
"I am enjoying the progress and contributions that women are making in all areas of sports. It is great to see more young women working behind the scenes like me or that more and more are now out in front being coaches, commentators, journalists, athletic trainers, or strength trainers, etc...
My career came from life circumstances, in that I found my niche while working in the Men's Basketball Office with Ms. Essie Davis. I might be the last of a dying breed as my position has changed over my 39 years. Besides being the assistant to the head football coach, I also assist in the day-to-day operations of the Football program including recruiting. I enjoy interacting with the many players, coaches, and staff over the years. It keeps me busy, engaged and you never know what your day is going to entail. And, if I can assist any young person in succeeding in life, and/or this business then I believe I have contributed to the betterment of my position and accomplishments."
Dr. Bailee Bobert, PT, DPT, LAT, ATC, the Associate Athletic Trainer for Football, has been with the team for two seasons:
"National Girls and Women in Sports Day is an amazing opportunity to thank exemplary women who have paved the way, reflect on how far we've come, and inspire and empower the future for women in sports, as both athletes and in athletic-based roles. As a female athletic trainer working in college football, I strive every day to be a leader and representative for women in all aspects of sport and am forever grateful for the strong female footsteps I've walked in, as well as all who have believed in me and given me the opportunity to do what I love every single day. Dream big, break barriers, empower each other, and embrace women in sports! You belong. Go Owls!"
Â
Toriana Brown, who is entering her second year as Temple Football's Director of On-Campus Recruiting:
"Being a woman in a male-dominated field certainly has its challenges, but I wouldn't trade my work in this industry or with Temple Football for anything. My advice to other women and girls looking to break into the sports world is simple: stay confident, be adaptable, and never be afraid to speak up and use your voice."
Â
Maddie Edwards, MS, LAT, ATC, has served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for one season:
"Being a woman working in football, while incredibly challenging at times, is also incredibly rewarding. Working in a male dominated sport presents its own opportunities to set the standard and pave the way for the next generation of women behind you. You belong in every room and conversation, don't let anyone make you believe otherwise!"
