Opening Tip
- Temple and Memphis clash in an American Athletic Conference showdown on Sunday afternoon inside FedEx Forum.
- The Owls are coming off a heartbreaker Thursday, falling to South Florida in double overtime, 100-91.
- The game was the third straight overtime game for Temple, marking the first time in program history that the team has played in back-to-back-to-back contests that went past regulation.
- Playing without leading scorer and All-America candidate Jamal Mashburn Jr., the Owls had opportunities to win at the end of regulation and the first overtime period but fell short each time.
- Sophomore Zion Stanford had a team-high 23 points and senior Steve Settle III added 21 for Temple, who also scored 90 or more points for the third straight contest - the longest streak in Temple men's basketball history.
- The game was also the seventh 90+ point outing for the Owls in 2024-25, a new program record.
- Sunday's contest is a rematch of the Jan. 16 matchup between the two schools - Temple came away with an 88-81 win over the then-18th ranked Tigers at Liacouras Center.
- Mashburn Jr. had 21 points to lead five Owls in double figures - Quante Berry (19), Shane Dezonie (15), Settle III (11) and Stanford (10) were the others to hit 10 or more points.
- Temple controlled the glass against Memphis, holding a 49-25 rebounding advantage in the game.
- The Tigers have not dropped a game since falling to the Owls on Jan. 16, and enter Sunday's game on a six-game winning streak.
- Over that streak, they have an average margin of victory of 11.7 points.
- PJ Haggerty paces the team in scoring at 21.7 ppg, while Tyrese Hunter (14.5 ppg), Dain Dainja (12.2 ppg) and Colby Rogers (10.9 ppg) also average double figures.
- Head coach Penny Hardaway is in his seventh season at the helm of his alma mater.
