Women’s Tennis Faces Drexel and William & Mary

PHILADELPHIA – This week, March 12 and 13, women's tennis will compete in two matches. The team will face crosstown rival Drexel on Wednesday at 12:00 PM in Philadelphia, followed by a home match against William & Mary on Thursday at 11:30 AM.

SCOUTING TEMPLE
- Irmak Ozturk and Nina Andreoni secured a dominant 6-2 victory over Yale's Mirabelle Brettkelly and Julia Werdiger, showcasing their chemistry and control on the court.
- Maria Martinez was in a strong position against Angela Huang, leading 6-3, 2-2 before the match was left unfinished, demonstrating her ability to dictate play.
- Martyna Mackiewicz came out strong in her singles match, winning the opening set 6-2 against Jamie Kim before the match was halted in the third set, highlighting her potential to close out big wins.
SCOUTING DREXEL
- Drexel women's tennis is off to a solid start with a 4-2 record despite a 2-4 loss to Stony Brook. Rebecca Fiedler fought through a tough three-set battle in singles but ultimately fell to Cornelia Bruu-Syversen 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. Elisa Rigazio was strong, coming from behind to defeat Lorin Tilipman 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. Drexel clinched the point in doubles with tight wins at the first and second positions. Rigazio and Sofiya Snitko edged out Elena Lobo Corral and Mila Charles 7-6(0), while Fiedler and Anastasia Kavounov triumphed 6-3.
SCOUTING WILLIAM & MARY
- William & Mary women's tennis showcased its depth and resilience in a dominant 7-0 sweep over Cleveland State, improving to 8-2 on the season. The Tribe overcame an early doubles setback with comeback wins at No. 2 and No. 3, highlighted by Francesca Davis and Alessandra Anghel's clutch tiebreaker victory to clinch the point. In singles, W&M capitalized on default at No. 6 before securing straight-set wins from Davis, Mira Kernagis, and Hedda Gurholt. Stange and Anghel battled through three-set matches to complete the sweep, reinforcing the Tribe's strong form as they continue their impressive season.
