How It Happen
- In doubles play, the Owls' No. 1 duo of Adam Kresina and Martim Marujo battled against the ranked pairing of No. 88 Andy Nguyen and Noah Zamora but fell, 6-3. Erden Er and Pranav Nemani also put up a strong effort but dropped their match at the No. 3 spot, 6-4, giving UC Irvine the early advantage.
- In singles, Marujo faced a tough challenge against Nguyen at the No. 1 spot, falling 6-3, 6-0. Kolaric fought hard but was edged out by Ruining Huang, 7-6(4), 6-3, while Russo fell in a tight second set to Lawee Sherif, 6-2, 7-5.
- Kresina and Aayush Bhat were both locked in close battles before their matches went unfinished, with Bhat leading in the decisive third set. Nemani also held a strong position, winning his first set before play was stopped.
