How It Happen
- In doubles play, the Owls' No. 1 duo of Dante Russo and Pranav Nemani faced a strong challenge from Max Amling and Armando Sotelo, falling 6-2. At the No. 3 spot, Erden Er and Alberto Blumenschein could not gain momentum, dropping their match to Ryota Kaneda and Adam Groves, 6-0, as St. John's took the early lead.
- In singles action, Marujo took on Amling at the No. 1 position but fell 6-2, 6-3. Nemani fought hard at No. 3 but was defeated by Ignacio Vinas, 6-4, 6-2. Er put up a strong effort in a back-and-forth match at No. 5 but ultimately fell in two tiebreak sets, 7-6(2), 7-6(4), clinching the game for St. John's.
- Russo, Bhat, and Blumenschein were all locked in competitive matches before play was stopped, with Bhat even on serve in the second set and Blumenschein trailing in the first.
