Women's Tennis Puts Up a Fight but Falls to Yale

BRONX, NY – Temple women's tennis battled hard against Yale but came up short in doubles play before showing some competitive moments in singles action.

How It Happen

In doubles, Temple succeeded at No. 2, as Irmak Ozturk and Nina Andreoni secured a 6-2 victory over Mirabelle Brettkelly and Julia Werdiger. The No. 3 pairing of Martyna Mackiewicz and Maria Martinez fought hard but ultimately fell to Shyla Aggarwal and Jamie Kim, giving Yale the early point.
Temple put up a fight in singles, with several matches going unfinished. At the top of the lineup, Ozturk put together a strong effort but fell 6-2, 7-5 to Ogilvy. Kelly Richter battled at No. 2 but was defeated 6-0, 6-3 by Aggarwal.
Thamara Kawaratani dropped a 6-0, 6-3 match to Werdiger at No. 3. Marianthi Christoforidou held a 6-4, 3-4 lead over Brettkelly when the game was left unfinished, while Martinez led Huang 6-3, 2-2 before play was halted. Mackiewicz won her opening set 6-4 against Kim, with the match left unfinished in the second set.
