No. 18 Men's Crew Opens Spring Racing Season with Schuylkill Invitational on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA - After moving up six spots to No. 18 in the latest IRCA/IRA Top 25 poll this week, the Temple men's crew team will hit the Schuylkill River for the first time this spring racing season at the Schuylkill Invitational. Racing starts for the Owls at 10:50 a.m. with the morning session, with the afternoon segment set to start at 2:20 p.m.

11:30 a.m. - Second Varsity 8 - Temple, Jacksonville
12:10 p.m. - Third Varsity 8 - Temple, Jacksonville
12:40 p.m. - Fourth Varsity 8 - Temple, Georgetown, Navy

Afternoon Session
2:20 p.m. - Varsity 8 - No. 18 Temple, No. 24 Gonzaga, Hobart
3:00 p.m. - Second Varsity 8 - Temple, Gonzaga, Hobart
3:40 p.m. - Third Varsity 8 - Temple, Hobart
4:10 p.m. - Fourth Varsity 8 - Temple, Hobart, Navy 5V

ABOUT THE OWLS

Temple had three exhibition dates to start the spring, squaring off against Rutgers and Virginia before heading to Princeton two weeks ago for a test against three nationally-ranked teams.
The Owls earned a victory over then-No. 18 La Salle in the varsity eight race, and was less than three seconds behind Georgetown - who vaulted to a No. 13 ranking this week.
The second varsity eight earned wins over Georgetown and La Salle, with the third and fourth varsity boats also competing.

THE FIELD

The Schuylkill Invitational will feature four Philadelphia schools - No. 18 Temple, No. 19 La Salle, No. 21 Drexel, and Saint Joseph's - rotating races against teams from around the country.
Four more nationally-ranked teams - No. 13 Georgetown, No. 17 Navy, No. 20 Holy Cross, and No. 24 Gonzaga - are joined by San Diego (receiving votes), Jacksonville, Hobart, and Marietta.
