Temple Falls to Drexel Despite Strong Fourth-Quarter Push

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's lacrosse (3-12) mounted a late rally against Drexel (12-3), but ultimately fell short in a 17-13 loss at Vidas Field on Wednesday evening. Laura Conner scored a career-high three goals, while Amelia Wright and Erin King each recorded hat tricks.
How It Happened
Erin King opened the scoring for the Owls, but Drexel responded with a six-goal run, fueled by multiple goals from Allison Drake, Bea Buckley, and Bridget Finley. Kate Quinn and Caroline Senich also scored for the Dragons, helping them build a 6-1 lead by the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Drexel added three more goals before Lily Caravela nd Amelia Wright found the back of the net for Temple. The Dragons capped off the half with a goal in the final seconds, taking a 10-3 lead into the break.
Temple responded in the third with a 4-1 scoring run. Conner netted two goals in the quarter, while King added her second of the game. Sabrina Martin also scored, and Cathleen Moran tallied her first goal as an Owl. The rally cut Drexel's lead to three, with the score sitting at 11-8 heading into the final frame.
The fourth quarter saw an offensive explosion from both sides. Temple put up five goals, including scores from Sarah Gowman, King, and two each from Conner and Wright. However, Drexel countered with six goals of their own to seal the 17-13 victory.
