Women’s Tennis Comes Up Short in NJIT Clash

Philadelphia - Temple women's tennis fought hard but ultimately fell 6-1 to NJIT in a tightly contested match that featured several three-set thrillers.

How It Happen

In doubles, the Highlanders snatched the point with back-to-back wins on courts 2 and 3. The top-flight match featuring Maria Martinez and Martyna Mackiewicz was left unfinished at 4-4, as NJIT had already clinched the point.
Temple's lone highlight came from sophomore Marianthi Christoforidou, who shined in singles play with a straight-set victory over Shalom Salvi, 6-3, 6-4. It marked the Owls' only point of the day.
Elsewhere in singles, Kelly Richter and Irmak Ozturk both pushed their matches to three sets but couldn't seal the deal, while Aditi Vaidya came within striking distance before falling in a super tiebreak on court 6. NJIT closed out the match with wins in five of the six singles battles.
