Men’s Tennis Set for Senior Day and Monmouth Match

4.7.25 | Men's Tennis

Philadelphia - The Owls are set to host the matches against FDU on Tuesday. This match marks Senior Day, in which the Owls will celebrate seniors Martim Marujo and Dante Russo for their dedication to the program. Temple will then hit the road for a midweek matchup against Monmouth University on Wednesday, April 9, at 3:00 PM in West Long Branch, N.J.

SCOUTING TEMPLE
  • Temple claimed the doubles point against Drexel with wins at No. 2 and No. 3, as Martim Marujo/Aayush Bhat and Erden Er/Alberto Blumenschein posted 6-3 and 6-2 victories, respectively.
  • The seniors continued to shine in singles. Marujo anchored the top singles spot with a gritty three-set win over Matteus Froberg Dahlin, 7-6(3), 4-6, 6-4, showing poise in pressure moments to seal the point.
  • Senior Dante Russo delivered a clean and efficient performance at No. 3 singles, cruising past Cole Thurgur 6-1, 6-3 to extend Temple's lead and keep momentum on Temple's side.

SCOUTING FDU
  • FDU came up just short in a 4-3 battle with Monmouth, with the Knights picking up three singles wins to stay competitive. The team now stands at 7-11 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
  • Joshua Oboniye showed resilience at No. 1 singles, rallying for a 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 win. He has now won two of his last three matches at the top spot.
  • Jorge Alonso-Cortes remained a steady force at the bottom of the lineup, notching his team-leading 15th singles win and third straight victory with a 7-5, 6-3 result.

SCOUTING MONMOUTH
  • Monmouth picked up a tight 4-3 win over FDU in non-conference play, improving to .500 in April with a well-balanced team effort.
  • Jakob Bonnett clinched a key point for the Hawks at No. 4 singles, outlasting Asaf Schwartz in three sets, and also teamed with Adam Hillerby for a 6-4 win in doubles.
  • Louis Keller played a pivotal role with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles and a commanding 6-1 doubles victory alongside Mateo Bivol at the top spot.
