Temple Football Opens 2025 Campaign at Massachusetts

AMHERST, MASS. – The Temple Owls will kick off the 2025 season and the K.C. Keeler era on Saturday, August 30 at 3:30 PM against the Massachusetts Minutemen. The game will be at McGuirk Alumni Stadium and will be streamed on ESPN+ and can be heard at OwlSports.com/listen.
THIS WEEK
Head coach K.C. Keeler comes into the 2025 college football season as the 34th head coach in Temple football history to ring in a new era of Temple Owls football. Keeler comes to Temple as a championship-winning head coach who has built winning programs at multiple levels of college football. Keeler and his experienced coaching staff come in aiming to drastically change the trajectory of Owls football. Coming off a 3-9 season in 2024, Keeler wants everyone on the roster and the staff to be 'unrealistic' with the goals in 2025. If you are thinking realistically, then you should not be a part of the future of Temple football.
UMass welcomes in head coach Joe Harasymiak to Amherst after spending 2022-24 at Rutgers in varying roles. Most recently he served as the defensive coordinators and linebackers coach for the Scarlett Knights. The Minutemen enter 2025 after going 2-10 in 2024.
TEMPLE-UMASS HISTORY
The 2025 opening game between Temple and UMass will be only the fourth game ever between the two programs. The Owls hold a 3-0 series lead against the Minutemen with the last win coming in 2022 in Philadelphia. Temple blanked UMass beating them 28-0.
Despite having played the Minutemen on the road in Massachusetts once before, it was not on the campus of UMass. The first game between the two schools came in 2015 when the Matt Rhule led Owls flew in to Gillette Stadium, the home of the New England Patriots, and took down UMass 25-23. The series will now shift back to Amherst, Mass. as the 2025 contest will be held at McGuirk Alumni Stadium.

The Owls will return to Philadelphia week two for a match up with the Howard Bison. This will be the season's home opener and will kickoff at 2:00 PM from Lincoln Financial Field. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and can be heard at OwlSports.com/listen.
