Temple Battles With Bowling Green in Season Opener

FARGO, ND - Temple women's volleyball team (0-1) battled with Bowling Green (1-0), (25-22, 26-24, 25-23, 25-18) during the first day of the NSDU/NDU invite at the Bentson Bunker Field House in Fargo, North Dakota Friday afternoon. Sophomore Jaya Moore led the team with 10 kills.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 (Temple 25, BGSU 22)
- The opening set saw a back-and-forth battle early on, before the Owls surged ahead with a 4-0 run to take a 10-6 lead.
- Late in the set, Bowling Green responded with a 7-0 run of their own, swinging momentum and taking a 21-19 advantage.
- After a Temple timeout, Alyssa Finister, Jaya Moore, and Leia Harper fueled a 4-0 run to reclaim the lead, 23-21.
- Finister closed the set with a key kill, sealing a 25-22 win for the Owls. Finister and Harper led the team with three kills each in a set that featured six ties and three lead changes.
SET 2 (Temple 24, BGSU 26)
- Olivia Hummel opened the set with a kill, marking her first kill of the match.
- The Owls went on a 4-0 run, 7-4. Soon after, the Falcons responded with three points, cutting into Temple's lead.
- Both teams rallied in the middle of the set, keeping the score within four points.
- Christiana Greene and Katie Hickey combined for a block, giving the Owls a three-point advantage, 19-16.
- The Owls capitalized on a service error by the Falcons with three points coming off of blocks from Finister and Greene, 22-17.
- Bowling Green bounced back with a 5-0 run, tying the score 23-23. The Falcons offense came away with the second set 26-24.
SET 3 (Temple 23, BGSU 25)
- Finister once again started strong for the Owls, and Qairo Bentley's back-to-back service aces helped Temple build an 18-15 lead.
- A 7-2 scoring run pushed Temple ahead 23-19, with contributions from Hummel, Moore, and Finister.
- However, Bowling Green closed the set on a 6-0 run to steal another frame, 25-23, and take a 2-1 match lead.
SET 4 (Temple 18, BGSU 25)
- The Owls opened the fourth set on a 4-0 run, highlighted by a Moore kill and a Finister solo block that made it 6-6.
- Moore reached double digits in kills to give Temple an 8-6 lead, but the Falcons responded with a 7-0 run to take a commanding 20-13 lead.
- After a few service aces, Bowling Green pulls away for a 25-18 win in the fourth set.
