Gallagher’s Late Goal Lifts Owls Past Central Michigan
8.31.25 | Field Hockey
PHILADELPHIA – After Central Michigan tied the contest with less than three minutes remaining, junior midfielder Riley Gallagher tipped in the game-winning goal off a pass from senior midfielder Agustina Tucceri with just over a minute left to lift the Temple University field hockey team to a 4-3 win over CMU on Sunday afternoon at Howarth Field.
The Owls (2-0) remained undefeated through the opening weekend of the season. The Chippewas (0-2) dropped their first two contests to begin the 2025 campaign.
Lise Korver, Lucia Magro, Mathéa Lassalle and Gallagher scored for the Owls in the thrilling victory.
How It Happened
After a scoreless first quarter, Korver broke through with 4:25 remaining in the half. Magro fired a shot that was saved, but Lina Neilson collected the rebound mid-air and sent a pass to Korver, who buried her first career goal.

Lassale answered early in the fourth, redirecting a pass from Neilson off a CMU defender's stick and into the cage to push the margin back to 3-1.

The Owls regrouped and capitalized on a late penalty corner. Halle Aschenbach inserted to Neilson, who swung a pass across to Tucceri. Tucceri's feed found Gallagher on the doorstep, and she redirected in the game-winner for her first career goal.
