Men's Soccer Falls Short 2-1 against Ohio State

8.31.25 | Men's Soccer

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Despite a late surge, the Temple men's soccer team came up short against Ohio State, 2-1, in a Sunday night matchup. Paolo Kampula scored the lone goal for the Owls in the 88th minute. With this result, Temple's record shifts to 0-3-1 while the Buckeyes move to 2-1-2.

How it Happened

  • Temple put its foot on the gas to start, with a shot and two corner kick opportunities in the first six minutes of play.
  • The Buckeyes would counter with the opening goal in the 11th minute, as this 1-0 advantage would hold till the halftime break.
  • The Owl back line would hold firm through the opening stages of the second half, setting up a shot opportunity for Harrison Dandridge in the 63rd minute.
  • Goalkeeper Preston Neal put up a fight with four saves through the first 35 minutes of the period before surrendering a goal in the 80th minute to give Ohio State the 2-0 advantage.
  • The Cherry and White would immediately go on the counterattack with a corner kick in the 88th minute, setting up Paolo Kampula for his first goal of the 2025 campaign to make it 2-1. Despite this run, the Owls couldn't find the equalizer as the match ended in a narrow defeat.
